OVERVIEW OF REHABILITATION SERVICES

Besides the person served having access to traditional rehabilitation services such as speech and language pathology, occupational therapy, rehabilitation nursing, case management, exercise physiology, cognitive therapy and neuropsychology, specific programs are available through Ann Arbor Rehabilitation Centers, Inc.

Semi-Independent Living Services

Semi-Independent Living Services create an ideal environment for the person served to practice and reinforce functional rehabilitation goals. Individuals reside in an apartment either in the Ann Arbor area or home community.

Participation in comprehensive community based rehabilitation services is provided. Skill development, participation in meaningful activity and resuming life's functions is reinforced. Supervision is identified on an individual basis. Transportation to therapies and community activities is provided as part of the program.

Residential Rehabilitation

Individuals receiving residential rehabilitation services receive increased supervision and structure sop as to allow a gradual increase in autonomy and eventual progress to a less structured environment.

Services are 'client centered.' Professional Interdisciplinary Team involvement assist the individual and their family in identifying realistic, obtainable goals.

Outpatient Rehabilitation Services

Individuals can participate in outpatient rehabilitation services while remaining in their home community. This level of participation can be through the structured day treatment program or by scheduling specific therapy sessions.

These Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Team identifies goals and develops a treatment plan. Rehabilitation services can be provided within the Clinic, in the individual's home or in the local community. This emphasis allows for the development of functional gains in real life environments.

Individuals participate in treatment plans based on their needs based on a comprehensive evaluation. Program intensity tapers as the individual makes progress and achieves goals.

Neuropsychological Evaluation and Assessment

Neuropsychological evaluations provide an in-depth perspective on the brain--behavior functioning of the individual. Neuropsychological assessments are used to design and develop a functional rehabilitation program for the individual. These assessments identify realistic goals that can be targeted so as to improve skills and increase independence.

Neuropsychological evaluations are completed at no additional cost for those individuals participating in comprehensive rehabilitation programs.

Community Based Services

Individuals at this level of programming benefit from participation in an independent program with appropriate supervision so as to ensure the individual's autonomy while still providing necessary support.

These services rely on the extensive resources available in the Ann Arbor community as the primary intervention for the individual. Individualized services within the individual's native community can be arranged.

Community Based Services are offered at work sites, homes, schools, recreational facilities and within the community at large. If appropriate, these services may be lifelong.
